Kim Barlow, M.P.H., Project Manager

Kim Barlow is an experienced disability researcher with expertise in qualitative data collection and analysis, psychometric validation of assessments, and public health program evaluation. She has managed state and federally funded studies serving adults with traumatic brain injuries, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and at-risk youth. She also has extensive experience in direct care and education in the areas of public health, community based services, and interagency task force coordination. Ms. Barlow holds a BS from Temple University and a MPH from Emory University. Her academic areas of emphasis are Program Planning, Behavioral Sciences, and Health Education.

Danielle Herbert, M.A., Research Analyst

Danielle Herbert has conducted research in the areas of community-based health and education, race/ethnicity, and workplace flexibility policies and practices. She has conducted organizational assessments of community-based providers, focusing on program implementation and capacity, survey studies, and cost-benefits analyses for nonprofit service providers throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Ms. Herbert is responsible for data collection and analysis activities, site visit support, project coordination, and staff supervision on several Social Dynamics projects. Ms. Herbert received her BS in Sociology from Virginia Commonwealth University and her MA in Public Sociology from American University.

Marilia Mochel, M.A., Sr. Research Analyst

Marilia Mochel is a political scientist with expertise in survey research methodology and statistical analysis. She has conducted statistical analysis of institutional political data, including election returns and large public opinion datasets.
She has also researched access to healthcare for individuals with disabilities, focusing on the challenges businesses have financing health insurance coverage and on innovative strategies to reduce costs and improve coverage. Currently, Ms. Mochel manages the Department of Labor’s Women’s Bureau project on successful businesses’ workplace flexibility practices, as well as the Office of Disability Employment Policy's initiative to provide technical assistance to businesses on the implementation of workplace flexibility. She is also a member the Disability Employment Initiative (DEI) Evaluation Team and is the State Liaison for New York, Virginia, and Delaware. Ms. Mochel earned an MA in Political Science from Florida International University and a graduate certificate in Latin American Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. She has finished her coursework in the PhD program at the Department of Political Science of the University of Pittsburgh, with a concentration in statistical methodology and comparative politics.

Becca Jackson, Ph.D., Sr. Research Analyst

Becca Jackson is an education researcher with a background in special education. Her research work has included vocabulary acquisition, reading fluency, teachers’ perceptions of students with special needs, and visual-gestural communication. Dr. Jackson spent several years as an Early Childhood Deaf Education classroom teacher. She is a certified Montessori teacher and has experience teaching at the graduate level. She completed a doctoral internship in the Research to Practice division of the Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services. Dr. Jackson received her PhD from Teachers College, Columbia University, her MA from Gallaudet University, and her BA from Flagler College.

Amy K. Rowland, M.F.A., Technical Editor

Amy K. Rowland began her career in medical publishing. Through her five years in publishing, she gained experience writing and analyzing market surveys, conducting market reviews, and managing an author team. She has since joined the Social Dynamics team to serve as the Technical Editor on its various projects. Ms. Rowland provides overall technical editing support on all Social Dynamics deliverables. She is responsible for formatting, editorial consultation, and management of deliverable quality assurance. Ms. Rowland holds a BA in English from Towson University and an MFA from the University of Baltimore in Creative Writing & the Publishing Arts.
